Zippy

Zippy never stays still. He runs, he spins, he bounces through life like a spark too quick to catch. That’s how he got his name — a little burst of energy, always in motion.

But behind Zippy’s lively spirit is a story that begins with heartbreak.

Two years ago, a volunteer was driving along the busy highway between Chișinău and Bălți — one of the most heavily trafficked roads in Moldova. Out of the corner of their eye, they spotted a familiar, devastating sight: a dog lying lifeless by the roadside, clearly hit by a car.

It was yet another tragedy… but something about the scene made them stop.

Next to the fallen dog, barely visible, was a small puppy — no more than four weeks old. He was curled up against her side, guarding her tiny body, refusing to leave. More than 24 hours had passed, and still, he remained by her, loyal and still, waiting for something… anything.

That puppy was Zippy.

Thousands of cars had passed. People had glanced and looked away. No one had stopped — not until that moment.

Zippy was rescued and brought to the shelter, frail but alive. And from the moment he was fed, warmed, and held, a transformation began. The quiet, grieving puppy turned into a whirlwind of joy. A zippy little thing, full of bounce and love.

He’s now two years old — playful, smart, and endlessly affectionate.
He’s been adopted twice, but both times returned. Zippy’s boundless energy can overwhelm quieter homes. He loves running in gardens, playing with toys, and being the center of attention — sometimes a bit too much.

But beneath the mischief is a dog who once showed a level of loyalty far beyond his years. A dog who sat by his mother’s side long after the world had stopped caring.

He may be wild at heart — but his heart is golden.
